  4. Photography 201- Advanced
  5. Special Topics
  6. Photo Excursions and Workshops
Core Classes
Most of our classes are conducted online so you can attend from the comfort of your own home. We record all of these classes and keep them available for you to review for a minimum of 7 days. Classes are offered weekly and can all be attended by signing up online or in-person at any of our locations. They run approximately 1 hour in length, with 30 minutes of Q&A at the end.

As classes tend to present general overviews on a given subject matter, please be aware that not every function specific to your camera may be covered as a defining element of the class. We highly encourage you to have your camera handy, along with any photos you've taken that you'd like to get feedback on from your instructor.

Seminars
Offered throughout the year on a variety of topics and disciplines, our seminars are typically presented by an all-star lineup of world-class industry influencers and expert instructors. These events tend to be conducted in an auditorium style setting and are typically held off-site at a variety of venues across the markets we’re located. We also host many of these seminars on our virtual platform if our instructor is not able to travel.

Workshops
Unlike classes, workshops tend to be intensely focused on one particular aspect of the picture-taking experience (e.g., macro, wildlife, sports, portrait photography, etc.), and are typically held in three parts: Online classroom instruction, a photo outing with guided instruction, and a final Online gallery exhibition and critique.  As a workshop participant, you will need to bring your camera or computer, as well as any photos you've taken that you'd like to have critiqued for composition or technical execution.

The cost of each workshop varies with the complexity of its curriculum. We strive to make them a great value.  If we partner with a non-profit organization on a workshop, such as Hawk Quest, we give a percentage of the proceeds back to their cause. Consequently, the value of class coupons cannot be applied towards our workshop offerings.

Photo Walks
Photo Walks offer hands-on photo shoots in small groups.  Instructors provide personalized tutoring during guided walking tours in various settings. They provide tips and answer questions on individual shooting preferences and camera settings to achieve desired outcomes.

Some examples include urban locations where the group moves throughout the workshop (walking up to 1.5 miles) to focus on different photographic subjects. Participants should wear comfortable shoes and clothing, dress appropriately for changing weather conditions, and bring a camera, tripod, and extra batteries and memory cards. Depending on the location, subject, and instructor, the photo walks vary in length.

Excursions
Our excursions offer a unique opportunity to join a small group of like-minded photo enthusiasts and enjoy the thrill of taking pictures in unique settings.  Whether photographing the night sky in remote locations, sailing races in the San Francisco Bay, or picturesque landscapes with limited access, our workshops will take you beyond your neighborhood and comfort zone.  Our instructors provide personalized tutoring, pro tips and tricks, and answers to questions, for pictures of a lifetime!

Each offering will have a link to register online, through Eventbrite or ClickMeeting, and don't forget you can always register in any of our locations!

We look forward to helping you enjoy the experience and thrill of visual capture – the world’s greatest hobby! – to its absolute fullest extent.
