Overview:
Through the Eyes of a Master — “See Through Their Eyes. Shoot With Your Heart”
See Through Their Eyes –
Now that you’re confident behind the camera, join Brian in looking beyond the settings and into the stories. In this series, you’ll study the work of influential photographers—discovering how their approach to light, shadow, composition, and subject can shape and deepen your own creative perspective.
Designed for photographers who have already built a technical foundation, this class moves into the aesthetic and emotional dimensions of photography. Through a liberal-arts approach that blends art history, visual analysis, and thoughtful discussion, participants will engage photography as both craft and expression.
Each session features an in-depth exploration of a master photographer—examining their biography, artistic voice, historical context, and visual language. Together, we’ll interpret their work in a discussion format reminiscent of a book club, where ideas are exchanged and insights are refined.
Shoot With Your Heart -
Participants will then complete a creative assignment inspired by the featured photographer’s vision. Much like musicians’ study and interpret great composers before developing their own style, students are encouraged to thoughtfully emulate elements of the photographer’s approach as a pathway toward discovering their own voice. In the second session, your own images become part of the dialogue, as we gather for a guided critique focused on growth, interpretation, and personal voice.
During this two-part class, like a book club, you’ll take part in a 2–3-hour lecture and discussion focused on the featured photographer, followed by a homework assignment and student critique session where your own work becomes part of the conversation.
This bi-monthly series offers the opportunity to discover six new photographers—and a deeper understanding of your own creative voice—throughout 2026.
A perfect class for photographers eager to bridge technique and artistry while discovering fresh inspiration through the eyes of the masters.
