Portrait Slam is returning to Denver!

Join up to 30 models & 30 photographers on Saturday, October 11th at DCO Denver from 4-7pm for a Halloween "Haunt Couture" inspired slam featuring: lighting by Nanlite, lenses by Tamron, support & prizes by Mike's Camera, & model coaching by Denver Models

Theme: Halloween "Haunt Couture" Fashion:

“Haunt Couture” fashion blends gothic mystique with runway drama. For women’s silhouettes, consider elegant sweeping gowns, corsetry, lace overlays, and flowing fabrics like velvet, satin, and chiffon -ghostly veils, ornate chokers, and gloved hands to add a hint at mystery. For men's silhouettes, consider dark edged tailoring: fitted velvet blazers, brocade waistcoats, high-collared shirts, and long coats that evoke both aristocracy and shadow. For androgynous styling, contrast textures - structured jackets over sheer layers, leather harnesses paired with silk, or flowing skirts balanced with tailored boots. Accessories across all looks favor dramatic flair: wide-brimmed hats, antique-inspired jewelry, polished canes, or even theatrical makeup with pale foundations, smoky eyes, and crimson lips. Models:

Please arrive dressed in theme and ready to shoot. Additional wardrobe will be provided on location for models to incorporate into their look by Second Wind Sports. Models are welcome to visit Second Wind Sports' location in Denver during open hours to browse their curated collection of Space Cowboy inspired fashion (optional). They'll be giving away a prize to the model who gets most creative & engaging with their fashion (just for fun, slams are not competitions). Arrivals begin at 6pm. Please try to arrive by 6:30pm, in time for a mini model workshop warmup with our friends at Denver Models. We'll have a space designated for models inside the museum for changing and model's belongings. Check in, explore the space for inspiring portrait locations, practice shooting with Nanlite lighting, and meet other creatives. Please be prepared to work with many different photographers in quick 10 minute sessions.

Photographers:

We appreciate it when photographers & videographers dress in sync with the vibe and rock the theme, but they aren't required to. Photographers should wear comfortable shoes and arrive with their camera ready to shoot. Please try to arrive by 6:30pm, in time for lighting & gear demos. After checking in, browse Tamron's lenses, Nanlite's lighting, & Fujifilm cameras, all available to borrow on location. Mike's Camera will be available to assist with gear. Prizes will be given away at the end to the participants who get most creative and engaging with Fujifilm, Nanlite USA and Tamron Americas gear (just for fun, slams are not competitions). Explore the space for inspiring portrait locations, take a few test shots and chat with fellow creatives. Introductions start at 7pm. We begin each slam by pairing everyone up. Please be prepared to work with many different models in quick 10 minute sessions. Personal lighting and film photography are welcome but please tread lightly and check in with us before flying a drone. Photography assistants are required to purchase a general ticket.
