Take your macro photography to higher levels with this fun three-part workshop with photoshoot at Butterfly Pavilion in Westminster Colorado!

How do you capture all of the fine details and vibrant colors when doing Macro Photography? Join us for this three-part workshop where our instructors will teach you how to capture spectacular detail and colors in your Butterfly and Flower Macro Photography images.

Begin this workshop from the comfort of your own home with our Virtual Online Part 1 instruction by Brian Rabin, one of Mike’s Camera educators. This is followed by a morning instructional workshop in the beautiful setting of Butterfly Pavilion in Westminster, CO where we will split up into small groups, each group with its own guide and instructor, and culminates at a virtual follow-up critique and review session to share your favorite images.

We will have exclusive access to the Butterfly Pavilion for an hour before they open and will end the practical session with a private photography opportunity.

Evening Webinar  includes guidelines and tips for making great Butterfly pictures at Butterfly Pavilion. We’ll cover some tools and accessories that will help you in your quest to make stunning macro images. We’ll also cover composition, exposure value and will answer all your questions.

Photo Workshop at Butterfly Pavilion is led by your instructor, Brian Rabin, you’ll have the opportunity to photograph many butterflies and moths in the beautiful location of the Butterfly Pavilion. We will begin our workshop 1 hour before they open to the public and then wrap up our session with a private opportunity to photograph other bugs :-). The Mike’s Camera staff will always be nearby to assist you with technical questions and provide hands-on instruction to ensure you execute best practices and capture the best shots possible.

Follow up Critique  wraps up the workshop with a fun and rewarding critique. We’ll review your best and not-so-great images from the day at Butterfly Pavilion and share techniques that really worked, and those that were not as useful. You’ll be astonished by the immense variety of images that will have been captured and spend some time giving and receiving positive and informative feedback.

Butterfly Pavilion workshops are limited to 20 photographers, 12 years and older. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a paying adult 18 years or older.


What to Bring

  • Camera(s) with an extra memory and extra battery
  • Variety of lenses– this will be discussed in the evening lecture
  • Auxiliary flash, LED light & or pocket reflector
  • Monopod

  • Groups will meet at 7:45AM outside the pavilion for an 8:00AM Start time.

Critique & Review: Wednesday July 24, 2024 from 6:30PM – 9:00PM
