Overview

Join Mike's Camera and Denver Zoo for a wild photography workshop! You’ll get online class instruction followed by an early morning private, guided walking tour at the Denver Zoo, where you’ll get hands-on photography instruction before the doors opens to the public. Then you’ll be able to share the images you captured at the zoo with the group during a virtual follow-up image critique.

During the photoshoot, we will be breaking up into small groups to allow for a more personal guided experience.

50% of the proceeds from this workshop will go towards supporting the Denver Zoo foundation and its mission to inspire communities to save wildlife for future generations.

What You’ll Learn

Your Tuesday evening pre-safari webinar will consist of tips and tricks for improving your composition, instruction on exposure, exposure value, and controlling depth of field for achieving stunning wildlife images.

 

Then on Sunday, you’ll get a private walking tour at the Denver Zoo, which will begin before it opens for general admission. At Each in-person session there will be an exclusive experience arranged with Denver Zoo that will give you pre-opening access and opportunities (See dates below for Exclusive details)

 

In addition to our private guided tour of the zoo, your instructors from Mikes Camera will be on hand to answer any technical questions and provide you hands-on assistance and instruction to ensure you tricks to capture sensational images.      

 

The following Wednesday night we will meet online to share our favorite images and give each other feedback.  You will also be able to pick up a 12x18 print of your favorite image from your local Mike's Camera!

What to Bring

  • Your camera(s) with extra memory cards and Batteries
  • A variety of lenses from telephoto and zoom to prime and macro
  • Tripod/Monopod; suggested, but not required
  • Water, snacks. Food and refreshments can also be purchased at many of the Zoo concessions
  • Hat to protect from the sun, sunscreen, light raincoat or appropriate clothing for the season
  • Comfortable shoes

Tuition includes evening webinar, hands-on shooting workshop, private viewing and access to restricted animals, a great variety of photographic opportunities for the entire day, plus a 12x18-inch Print of a favorite image from your day’s shoot.

Max Class Size

Photo Safari workshops are limited to 30 photographers.  During the photoshoot at the Zoo, we will be split up into small groups of 10 or fewer.  Participation is for those 12 years and older.  Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a paying adult 21 years or older.
