In between classes, Peter will be at the Camera counter answering questions about the latest Canon gear and helping you make the decision on your next Canon Body or Lens to improve your photography.

Class #1: LEARN WITH CANON: GET STARTED!

Friday September 15: 2:30pm to 4:30pm

This program is designed for newcomers and casual photographers to help them overcome the “fear” you may have with advanced camera systems and inspire you by how easy it is to get excellent results. It consists of two parts: a classroom lecture, and an in-depth shooting experience through the use of five “Image Stations” . At the conclusion of the GETSTARTED! program, you will have a working understanding of the following:

Proper and successful handling and operation of the camera.
Knowledge of autofocus operation, in both Full Auto “Green Zone” and “Image Zone” modes.
The experience of working with ultra-wide zooms, telephoto zooms and macro lenses with hands-on time that will show you how to use these lenses to enhance your creative vision.
An understanding of how to take a flash picture with the built-in flash and how a simple shooting mode change can alter the way a flash picture looks.
An overall stronger sense of possibilities to expand their imagery, by moving past the full auto “Green Zone” and into other image zone settings.

Class #2: LEARN WITH CANON: GET CREATIVE!

Saturday September 16: 10:30am to 12:30pm

This session is about taking the next step in your photography — taking off the training wheels, so to speak, and beginning to use your camera’s controls to put your stamp on the images and video you create. We start with a quick review of a few extremely important camera controls, and then explain the three photographic fundamentals: shutter speeds, lens apertures and ISO settings. We realize that for some of you, this is a very basic review. But for those who have begun their photographic trek in fully automatic settings, such as the “Green Zone” shooting mode, gaining the understanding of how these three elements work can be a transforming moment.

With that in mind, the Get Creative! Session goes on to explore the following:

Understanding the Three Pillars of Photography
The Primary Exposure Modes
Exposure Control — precisely controlling the brightness of your images and video
Image Control — using your camera to fine-tune the look of your images
Working with Autofocus — taking control and focusing quickly upon your primary subjects
Understanding Flash — opening the door to a whole new way of lighting

Class #3: UNCOVERING CANON EASTER EGGS!

Saturday September 16: 2:30pm to 4:00pm

Come learn how long time Canon Product Educator, dives into the Canon EOS R System Cameras to get the most out of the cameras and lenses. Learn how to navigate the menus faster and set up the camera’s buttons and dials. Dive into the new Tracking Auto Focus features of the camera system.

Peter has over a decade of experience working with Canon’s printers and imaging products before he joined the camera product educator team in 2013. As a Canon technical representative, he is a passionate teacher and enjoys interacting with everyone from full time professionals to beginners. He enjoys various genres of photography including: architecture, aerospace, food, landscape, portraiture, macro, sports and travel.
