Overview

When you enter the Colorado Railroad Museum you’ll capture photos and the stories and experiences of the colorful railroads that helped shape Colorado history. It’s an adventure as old as the rails themselves and as new as your own discoveries.

Our hands-on workshop at the Colorado Railroad Museum is presented by Sony's expert Technical Representative, Jeff Van Scoyk. Our group will have private access to the facility at 7:30am before the Museum opens to the public. You’ll capture unobstructed photos of these iconic trains, without crowds during the “golden hour” when the light is especially dramatic and warm. You’ll learn how to capture the dramatic details of the steel wheels and engine parts, and have the opportunity to photography a lovely model in this unique setting.

Denver portrait photographer Zara Ashby will lead the portraiture portion with a live model, and show you tips on how to capture lively and distinctive portraits. A truly unique opportunity to make creative portraits in vintage rail cars! You’ll capture exclusive photographs as the Museum staff fires up a steam engine, in which they’ll be offering rides all day.

Tuition includes class on Thursday March 29th from 6:30PM-8PM at Mike's Camera, Park Meadows. You’ll learn tips for shooting at the Colorado Railroad Museum, and suggestions to help you get the most out of your time using the Sony loaner camera gear. Included in the workshop fee is admission to the Railroad Museum (you do not need to purchase a separate ticket for the museum visit).

Participants are welcome to stay and visit the museum after the photo shoot.

Bonus: Sony will provide demo gear cameras and lenses to test and try as part of this workshop.

Jeff will also be at Mikes Camera, Park Meadows on Friday March 30th from 10:00AM-5:00pm to answer questions about the Sony Alpha system.

The timing of this workshop also allows you to take advantage of the last two days of Sony’s Trade-in Trade-up program – receive up to a $500 bonus on your trade-in of any working interchangeable lens digital camera or trade any lens in addition to applicable instant rebates! If you’ve been considering upgrading your gear, you just may want to take advantage of this unbeatable program. No ticket or registration required to attend the March 30 event at Mike’s Camera, Park Meadows.
