The experts from Panasonic will take the mystery out of producing quality video and get you into the field, prepared to start building your video portfolio using cameras with interchangeable lenses. This course will feature hands on demonstrations using your own personal camera. You do not need to have a Panasonic Camera to participate in this class.

 

What You’ll Learn

Shooting video can be a great way to expand your creativity and tell you story through moving pictures. Matt Frazer, Field Training Manager for Panasonic and subject matter expert for the Lumix Cameras and Panasonic video cameras, will help you to better understand the video features that exist in your camera that will help you to produce more professional results.

 

This course will cover the following

  • Understanding frame rates and how to choose the right one for your project

  • Video CODEC’s, what are they and how to pick the best one for your project

  • Shutter speed and its impact on video

  • Audio recording, selecting the right device to get the best sound for a given application

  • Camera handling and best practices

  • Introduction to video editing (an introduction to Final Cut X)

  • Uploading your project to YouTube and Vimeo.

Recommended Cameras

Any interchangeable lens camera that can record video, a few examples are listed below:

  • Canon: 5D MKII, 5D MKIII, Canon T3i, T4i, 60D etc.

  • Nikon: D3100, D5100, D7000, D3200, D5200, D7100, D800, D600 etc.

  • Sony : Any SLT or NEX models

  • Panasonic: Panasonic GH1, GH2, GH3, G2, G3, G5, G6, GF1, GF2, GF3, GF5 and GF6.

  • Olympus: Any PEN or OMD model with video

 

Video cameras are welcome as well, please be sure that they have full manual controls (aperture, shutter, and gain if possible).

 

Lens Recommendation

A lens with some zoom function that starts fairly wide is recommended. The lenses that come with most manufacturers’ kits will work fine, some examples are 18-55mm & 18-105mm.

 

About Matt Frazer

Matt Frazer has been in the Consumer Electronics Industry for over 20 years and has been field training end users for over a decade. Matt has spent the past 7 years working for Panasonic in their imaging group and has been involved in the production of many videos that range from field production to in-studio production.
