Doors Open Denver is an annual celebration of Denver's architecture and design. This two-day event invites you to tour and appreciate the spectacular, the new, and the historic buildings you see but may have never entered or given much thought to as you pass by them every day. Join Mike's Camera along with Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic and Tamron for free educational seminars and Photo Walking Tours of Downtown Denver during Doors Open Denver 2016.


The crew from Mike's Camera along with Technical Representatives from the camera and lens manufacturers will guide you through a scenic tour capturing some of Downtown Denver's most remarkable sites and architecture. You can use your own gear or test drive free loaner gear provided by Mike's Camera and the participating vendors.

Downtown Denver Photo Walking Tours

All Mike’s Camera events during Doors Open Denver 2016 will be held at the Denver Post Lobby and Auditorium located at 101 W Colfax Ave, Denver, CO 80204, at the corner of Colfax and Broadway in Downtown Denver, across from Civic Center Park.



Tickets are required to participate in the walking tours and are limited to 30 individuals per group and benefit the Denver Architectural Foundation. To purchase your Mike’s Camera Photo Walking Tour tickets, click on the link and scroll down to list to the “M”s.


You'll enjoy a brief presentation on photographic principles and gain historical insight about street photography, both people and architecture. The seminars will review the following topics to help you make the most of the photo walk and picture taking opportunities:

  • Tips for Capturing Dramatic Exteriors

  • Tips for Capturing Details

This session will focus on capturing the "magic light" at dusk, and using slower shutter speeds to capture movement and ambient light. Tripods and shutter releases are recommended.

30 min Street/People/Architectural & Night Photography Seminar

90 min Walking Tour

Tour will conclude no later than 8:00 PM

Mike’s Camera Doors Open Denver Photo Contest

This is your opportunity to find and photograph your favorite areas of Denver, post your images to a public site, have them reviewed by a panel of judges and get the opportunity to win fantastic prizes! (Please be aware that some sites have restrictions on interior or exterior photography, so please ask first.)


Photographers ages 18 and older are invited to participate – and winning entries will be showcased on the Doors Open Denver website: doorsopendenver.com and Facebook: Facebook.com/DoorsOpenDenver.

Photo Contest Entry Deadline

The entry deadline to submit your photos is Sunday, May 15th. All photos submitted must be taken during Doors Open Denver weekend, and stock Denver photos as discouraged.


Entry Rules

Photos are not limited to Doors Open Denver sites but must be of sites within the City of Denver. Photos are limited to one image upload per category. Upload your images here beginning April 23rd

Entrants must be 18 or older.

All entrants agree that their names and images may be displayed and used in the Doors Open Denver Photography Competition for marketing and promotional purposes and/or for display in Mike’s Camera store(s) without charge or copyright infringement, and that the images they upload are acceptable for public view. Winners must provide full resolution image files of winning images to be used for printing of the prize photograph and/or for display and promotional purposes by Mike’s Camera, Inc., in order to receive their winning prize.
