Follow us on Facebook to stay informed about workshops like this one and more!

Join us for this exciting three-part workshop!

Starts with an informative & inspiring lecture about making great wildlife photos, held at our Denver store on South Colorado Blvd.

Then enjoy a private early morning up-close animal experience and guided walking tour long before the doors open to the public at the Denver Zoo, complete with hands-on photography instruction.

Meet up again with the group to share your images at the follow up critique.

What You'll Learn

Techniques to make great wildlife photos in a zoo setting

Composition, exposure, depth of field, shutter speed, panning, focusing tips, awareness of light

About various species of the majestic animal kingdom

Your Thursday evening pre-safari class will provide tips and tricks for improving your compositions in a zoo environment, instruction on exposure, exposure value, and learn how to control depth of field for achieving stunning wildlife images.

Then on Sunday, we’ll meet for our private walking tour at the Denver Zoo with an assigned professional docent. Enjoy two custom tailored special animal experiences where you’ll experience exclusive private photo sessions with various animals from the zoo’s wildlife show. Tour Tropical Discovery, and photograph a variety of fresh-water and marine fish, and exotic turtles that can be seen swimming in the 2,250-gallon cerulean blue pool, followed by another up-close animal feeding.

In addition to our private guided tour of the zoo, your instructors from Mike’s Camera will be on hand to answer any technical questions and provide you hands-on assistance and instruction to ensure you capture sensational images.

You’ll have the chance to capture the beautiful morning light illuminating a variety of animals including Asian elephants, giraffes, polar bears, bighorn sheep, arctic wolves, eagles and many others! (Animal showings vary by season.)
