Learn how to create dramatic lighting effects using both studio lights and Speedlites. Your instructor will guide you through the process of setting up various types of portrait lighting for a live shoot! You’ll become comfortable with the quality and aesthetics of light, controlling the power output of lights, where and how to place lights, guiding and instructing your subjects and much more!
Session 1: Instructional Seminar
The seminar will focus on lighting techniques. It will give you a good set of tools to use as you go forward and work on your own to create portrait lighting set-ups. The following topics with the class:
Light Positioning and Ratios
Subject Guiding and Posing
Studio Lighting vs Speedlights
Lighting small and large groups
Creative Lighting Positions
Session 2: Hands-on Workshop
Put your skills into action with this hands-on workshop photo shoot! You’ll get to go through the process from start to finish with live models! Receive one-on-one guidance from your instructor as you set up the lights and guide your portrait model through the shoot.

What to Bring
To the Lecture
Bring a pen and pad of paper to take those crucial notes. You may bring your camera and flash along if you would like to relate how the lecture applies to your own gear
To the Hands-on Workshop
Your Camera and lens along with a fully charged battery and memory cards. We recommend you bring a flash if you have one that you use with your camera. Additional flashes, studio lighting equipment, and models will be provided.
