Nikon Wireless Flash Workshop
with Hands-on Shooting Stations

Follow us on Facebook to stay informed about workshops like this one and more!

What you’ll Learn

Nikon Training Specialist, Jason Stewart will deliver a special hands-on workshop designed specifically for Nikon owners who are getting started with wireless flash. Jason will begin with a short overview of the buttons and menus for wireless flash and other flash settings. After a solid understanding of how to set-up your gear, participants will photograph at the Shooting Stations set-up in the store especially for this workshop. Then we will move on to discuss some of the processes and technologies involved in creating several still-life type images. This workshop will allow you to make the most of the amazing technology with stop motion and off camera flash photography.

The fun part, you will use your Nikon camera to CREATE images of some of same still-life setups at our hands-on Lighting Stations! Our Lighting Stations for the evening are generally one or two flash setups that you’ll be able to easily duplicate at home or in your studio. The entire program is designed to help you get jump started into the wonderful world of Nikon flash photography.

Participants will need to bring their own NIKON camera and lenses, and Nikon will provide all the flashes necessary for this event. Due to the technology used by the other manufacturers, non-Nikon cameras will not function properly for this workshop.

Recommended Cameras D80, D90, D7000, D200, D300, D300s, D700 and D800

All of these cameras have the wireless commander system built-in which will allow for seamless shooting.

Note to owners of D40/D40x/D60/D70/D70s/D5000/D3/D3x: You may participate in this workshop but you will need to provide an additional item to trigger the different groups of Nikon flashes wirelessly. The only recommended triggers for your cameras are: SB-800 or SB-900 or SU-800.

Lens Recommendations a moderate telephoto (80mm through 135mm) that will focus closer than about 5 feet. Other lenses may be used with varying degrees of results.

About Jason Stewart

If you’re an “Available Light Shooter” which is most of us, this means that we aren’t comfortable with our flashes. It is understandable. Flash photography, especially good flash photography has always seemed mysterious and difficult. Until now… Jason has a way of turning complex techniques easily understandable in a well-paced learning environment. Jason is one of Nikon’s leading Technical Support Specialist and an instructor for Nikon School. His extensive knowledge of both the technology in Nikon cameras as well as technical photography makes him a favorite perennial instructor at Mike’s Camera.
