Andy Lopušnak - Dublin

Andy Lopušnak is a world traveler and professional sports, cityscape and portrait photographer. He has served as the official portrait photographer for CBS Sports’ coverage of the PGA Championship, Thursday Night Football and the Final Four with Andy’s photos being used on-air and through CBS Sports’ social media sites. In addition to CBS, Andy has worked for Getty Images and has had his photos used by USA Today, ESPN and numerous online and print media outlets. Brian Rabin - Boulder

Brian is a certified photographic consultant and The Industrial Sales Manager at Mike's Camera in Boulder. Brian is a seasoned photographer and a lead instructor at Mike's Camera. He is well known for his enthusiasm and passionate instruction style and brings over 20 years of experience in various photographic disciplines including event photography, portraiture, macro and street photography. His work has appeared in one-man shows, group exhibits and has been published in national and local magazines.

Bryan McClure - Pleasant Hill

Bryan McClure is currently a professional photographer working in Contra Costa County, California. Bryan specializes in portraits and event photography and uses many creative light effects in his work. Bryan has been teaching private lessons in photography for nearly a decade. He has worked with/for several other professional photographers in the area dating back into the mid 1970's. He studied graphic arts at Diablo Valley College and is experienced with programs such as Lightroom, Photoshop CS4 and 5. In addition, his strong background in camera technology make him a valued and experienced classroom instructor with Mike's Camera in Pleasant Hill, California.

Bryan lives with his wife Joan and his yellow Lab, Tucker in Concord, California.

Caleb Mcgowen - Sacramento

An avid landscape photographer and professional videographer, Caleb’s travels have taken him all over the United States. His experience from shooting in a variety of settings has given him valuable knowledge in all phases of production, whether it shooting in remote outdoor locations or coordinating a wedding shoot. When Caleb is not out exploring the wilderness of Yosemite, Caleb can be found at our Sacramento location.

Carson Johnson - Sacramento

Carson has a growing passion for modifying and building drift cars which has lead him into automotive photography. He started with photography and art classes in high school and continued on while attending Butte College. Along with automotive photography he is also an experienced portrait photographer and also has experience in all other types of photography including video. He has been shooting for about 7 years and counting and plans to make it his life career.

Christian Metzler - Denver

Christian studied Visual Journalism at the Brooks Institute of Photography in Ventura, California and Video Production at Media Village, Capetown, South Africa. He has been shooting primarily Canon for 15 years and is currently a freelance photographer for Compassion International, the world’s largest child advocacy organization.

Christopher Gilbert - Colorado Springs

Christopher Gilbert is a self-proclaimed gear junkie who appreciates the blend of expression and technicality that photography provides and applies it, with admiration, to his landscape photography. Over the three years he has worked for Mike’s Camera, he has discovered that teaching has been the most rewarding component of his position and hopes to continue helping others achieve their photographic goals. Christopher emphasizes an easy-going atmosphere, where student and teacher learn from one another, and that it’s not about what you own, but the fact that you’re out there shooting.

Danielle Barrow - Mill Valley

Danielle is a master at taking pictures with her smartphone. Her passion for photography has her now growing into bridge cameras and exploring different exposure possibilities. Helping others with their cropping and printing possibilities on a daily basis has helped her take her art to the next level. Being a passionate photographer recently brought her to the next level where she teaches others what she has learned.

Dave McFarlane - Boulder

Dave started in the photographic industry working as a medical photographer, shooting ophthalmic imagery with a world class teaching hospital in New York. When Dave moved to Colorado he worked in several commercial labs and he continues to photograph and be passionate about photography in his current sales role at Mike’s Camera.

For fun Dave enjoys street and concert photography. When he is not photographing people he enjoys macro and wild life photography.

 

Douglas Huner - Park Meadows

Douglas Huner has been in the photographic industry since 1982 photographing weddings and portraits and printing B&W as well as Cibachrome from 1985 to 2007. Doug has worked in camera sales at Mike’s Camera since 2007 and teaches the point and shoot digital class. Douglas currently photographs weddings, the National Parks, railroads, and loves to scuba dive and travel and photograph around the country as well as different parts of the world.

Duane Worley - Denver

Duane is a 3rd generation professional photographer from western Nebraska. He’s taught photography in state and national programs for the Professional Photographers of America and has 14 national merits for his portraits. In 42 years of shooting with his father, Duane became an expert with various cameras, lighting, retouching, print finishing and framing. Duane’s daughter and granddaughter continue the family photography tradition to five generations.

Greg Hazard - Colorado Springs

Greg has chronicled vivid images from around the world for over twenty years – from award winning weddings and events around the country to photojournalism in the Amazon jungle and incredible concert images with worldwide touring acts. His unique style has earned him a reputation as a "go to" photographer in multiple markets. Attending Brooks Institute of Photography, Santa Barbara, California, provides Greg with a solid foundation in technical and creative skills. Extensive knowledge and experience with lighting, posing, design and composition sets Greg apart from the myriad of other photographers. He is also a member of Northern California Professional Photographers (NCPP) and Wedding and Portrait Photographers International (WPPI). For over a decade Greg worked as a photographer for Great Expressions Wedding Studio in Walnut Creek, CA. During this time he was also an instructor with the Civic Arts Program in Walnut Creek. His classes included Digital Photography, Photoshop, Indoor Lighting and Outdoor Lighting.

Heather Shaw - Dublin

Heather enjoys photographing people, animals, landscapes, events and whatever inspires her. Her goal is to keep capturing others' memories and also taking the path less traveled to capture scenes very few have ever seen. She has been an active professional photographer since 2009, and her passion for photography shows in her attitude and her work. Earning a photography degree from Modesto Junior College, Heather has extensive experience using, developing and printing film, using DSLRs (Canon and Nikon) and editing images with Photoshop. She has had her work selected to appear in shows in Anaheim, CA and she has been recognized by a gallery located in Stockton.

Jack Ishida - Menlo Park

Sharing his passion for photography through teaching- Jack Ishida moved to the San Francisco Bay area from Clearwater, FL in 2016. He honed his skills as a commercial photographer while running a small marketing company. In that role, he photographed many clients and products for magazines, advertisements and marketing materials. He is also an avid portrait, landscape and wildlife photographer. With a passion for both the technical and artistic sides of photography, teaching photography was a natural fit. In his free time, Jack enjoys photographing birds in their natural environment, attending live music events, and riding his motorcycle.

Jeff Lawson - Wheat Ridge

Jeff Lawson has been in the photographic industry for nearly 30 years. He began his career as a portrait and wedding photographer then moved to the retail side of photography. He has worked as a store manager and now as a sales person at the Mike’s Camera in Thornton, Colorado. Jeff’s photo passion is landscape and nature photography.

Jeremy Chad Monsma  - Wheat Ridge

A native Coloradan, Jeremy developed a passion for photography at a very young age. As an adult, he has devoted his life to teaching and helping others. Monsma’s experience and passion for photography is apparent in all he does. He describes himself as a very hands-on and visual type of person; these qualities are reflective in his class instruction as well. “My goal when teaching is to make everyone feel like they belong by being caring and approachable.”

Jessica Falls - Sacramento

When Jessica was little, at every family function she had a desire to take pictures of everyone with her little Fisher Price camera. Never missing a moment. That was her first camera. Of course as years went by, she finally purchased her first DSLR camera. Jessica put more of a interest into her photography attending school and working in art galleries. Jessica specializes in lifestyle photography and loves sharing the moment of the capture with others.

Joe Klocek - Park Meadows

Joe Klocek has worked in the photographic industry as a photographer, salesman, and instructor since 2005. Today he teaches courses on a variety of topics, including macro, wildlife, exposure theory, videography, and studio lighting. In the past few years he has been a guest speaker for photographic societies and travel expositions. He lives in Denver with his wife, son, and unmanageable book collection. Joel Quiggin - Sacramento

Like many of us, Joel Quiggin received his first camera at a young age. From there, he realized that this “toy” could become a tool, with which he could share his story. Wishing to advance his knowledge to the next level, Joel pursued photography courses during his college years. Joel has now been in the photo industry for over 17 years and has become well versed in portrait, landscape, lighting, and product photography. Over the years, Joel has received many awards for his photographic work and has been published in various media. Most importantly, Joel is very passionate about sharing his knowledge with others.

John Daniels -  Park Meadows

John started his professional photography career in 1979 during his second year of college and continued on as a photojournalist and freelance photographer through 1995 before relocating to Colorado where he’s held several positions in the industry. John is currently in sales and teaches at Mike’s Camera Park Meadows. He’s also owned and operated a black & white custom photo lab and photo studio, where he did auto industry product shots, model portfolios and event photography.

John Devuono - Mill Valley

John is an artist through and through. Growing up in a photo-centric family he started photographing at a young age using a Kodak instamatic; learning techniques from his uncle and brother. He further developed his expertise in photography photographing for his high school and working in the darkroom. As a trained professional chef he used his keen eye to create artfully appetizing dishes all the while remaining interested and enthusiastic about photography and cinematography. Ultimately John spent 15 years in photo retail management and is now proud to be a sales consultant at Mike's Camera in Mill Valley. In his free time he likes to cycle, cook and photograph. Join one of his classes and you leave informed and inspired!

John LeMaster - Boulder

John starting shooting when he was 14 years old with his grandmother's Kodak Instamatic. He graduated to a Pentax K1000 and began doing wedding photography and portraits. By the age of 18 John was shooting professionally and after moving to Colorado he combined his love of photography with his love of the outdoors.

Jonathan Shoup - Denver

Jonathan has been a working professional photographer in Denver for ten years. He brings his youthful energy and unbridled enthusiasm to every project and is insatiably driven to create memorable art in the commercial industry. His work has been featured in many of Denver’s local print and online publications. Jonathan specializes in editorial fashion, commercial studio production, music and performance art photography. He is in inspired perfectionist with a tireless attention to detail.

Jose Luis Vazquez - Menlo Park

Jose Luis is from Mexico City and is a Certified Photographer Consultant (CPC). He began working at Mike’s Camera in 2012. Jose is a photographer with 20 years of experience and specializes in portrait photography, as well as weddings, quinceaneras and studio photography. He also teaches classes and conducts one-one-one consultations. Photography is not just a hobby for him, it is an actual way of life… “It’s not just how you hold a camera and snap the picture, it’s the way you see
 life and everything around you.” Jose Luis absolutely loves photography and it shows in his classes!

Josh Olsen - Denver

Josh has been taking pictures for 15 years. He is an accomplished printing and darkroom technician along with being an internationally published portrait photographer. He also specializes in a documentary style of photography and never goes anywhere without a camera. Currently he is studying at Metro State for his BFA in Communications and Design.

Kim Nagel - Menlo Park

As the granddaughter/daughter of the owners of Idaho Camera Inc. in Boise, Kim Nagel was literally born and raised in the photography business. She moved to the Bay Area about 3 years ago, and enjoys traveling the world. She loves shooting both macro and landscape photography. Kim has had a camera in her hand since she could walk. She has gained most of her knowledge from lessons with her dad, as well as working in the family business. Kim loves sharing her passion for photography with others, and is excited to bring her expertise and enthusiasm to the Mike's Camera family!

Louis Archuleta - Sacramento

After studying his long-time interest in the visual arts and graduating from the photography program at American River College, Louis Archuleta has dedicated his life to advancing his skill set and his talents in the world of photography. He is a diversified and well rounded artist with a keen eye for lighting and portraiture. He has dedicated countless hours developing his own unique style and his passion for portrait photography shows as he strives to capture the soul of his subjects through light and lens. His award-winning work has been featured in galleries, blogs and publication.

Lowry Nakamura - Sacramento

Lowry got involved at a very early age with the arts, thanks to his father, who was involved with artifact mount making for the Museum of New Mexico. This gave Lowry the opportunity to apprentice alongside his father. This would be a big influence on Lowry, which would be the beginning of a lifelong pursuit of the arts. He received a Bachelor’s Degree of Fine Arts from the University of New Mexico in 2012 and two Associate’s degrees prior in 2010/08 in Photography, Painting and Drawing.

Lowry has been featured in several group exhibitions at the Santa Fe Community College, the University of New Mexico, and Wells Fargo’s art gallery located in downtown Santa Fe, New Mexico.

(We’re in this together 2012, Never Ending Patterns 2011, Black and White Santa Fe 2010, Photosynthesis 2010 and Juried Student Exhibition 2009).

His inspiration for making art comes from a love of photography, sculpture and design, which are his principal means of creation. Lowry is currently a freelance artist, photographer and web designer. He has worked at LewAllen Galleries, one of Santa Fe’s nest locations as well as the University of New Mexico’s Art Museum and Raymond Jonson Gallery. Mr. Nakamura also spent the summer/fall of 2009 interning with Phil Space at James Hart Photography.

Mark Harrington - Sacramento

Mark has been intrigued by the visual arts ever since he bought his first video camera when he was 13. It was all plastic and had an antenna that transmitted the video to a VCR. Remember those VHS tapes used by dinosaurs and cavemen alike? Following High School he completed his bachelor's degree in film production. He recently had one of his documentaries premiere at the Sacramento International Film Festival. Over the years his love for the photographic arts grew, keeping his camera rolling and shutter snapping away for weddings, magazines, portraits, real-estate, and documentary projects.

Mary Richardson - Mill Valley

Mary picked up her first camera in 1986 and became addicted to photography immediately. Attending classes at Palomar College in San Marcos California she received a Certificate of Proficiency in both Photography and Graphic Communications.

Her work has been published and has received numerous awards in various photo competitions as well as having been exhibited at selected galleries. She has worked in the printing industry for over 10 years and is now a sales associate and instructor at Mikes Camera in Mill Valley California. Matt Todd - Menlo Park

Matt has been taking pictures since he was 8 years old. Every summer he would come out to Colorado and take pictures – it was a post card perfect shot from the top of Mount Elbert that hooked him to stay in the photo world. He’s currently the manager of Mike’s Camera in Menlo Park. He spends his free time shooting pictures of wildlife and nature.

Reza Toghani - Dublin

Reza Toghani is a skilled landscape, nature and nighttime photographer, from Iran with over 30 years of experience. Using both film and digital technology he has been able to capture exotic locals and create powerful and thoughtful images. Reza owns and has operated three 35mm film cameras and now uses a Canon 5D MKIII and a Fuji X100T. With his experience, flavored by his foreign perspective and vast knowledge of still imagery, Reza's able to produce breathtaking photographs and teach others how to do the same! When not photographing the wide vistas of Yosemite and the world, Reza is helping people find the right camera at the Dublin, California store.

Rob Schmid - Denver

Robert is a passionate and accomplished photographer. He shoots professionally in fields such as fight & sports photography (Muay Thai, mixed martial arts and boxing), product photography, and is well-versed in studio shooting. Some of the photography Rob is most passionate about would be macro and HDR photography (High Dynamic Range). He is a certified Adobe professional and has well over a decade of experience with post processing techniques through Adobe and many other software packages. He has been teaching for over six years and has been working in the industry for over 12 years. You'll find if you're in any of his classes he is passionate and enthusiastic about photography and helping you to learn how to capture your life's moments and preserve them.

Robert Silver - Dublin

Robert is an award-winning and published photographer. With years of commercial, fashion & portrait photography experience; he has an extensive amount of experience in capturing images that not only tell a story but communicate excellence. Over the years, Robert has gained a deep-seated knowledge photographic equipment in order to cover an entire wedding, complete a commercial product shoot, capturing a compelling editorial or a dynamic portraits. With a strong attention to detail, an ability to meet demanding deadlines and a history of satisfied client; Robert has been able to establish myself as a professional photographer in one of the world's most competitive field. Ryan Hurtig - Park Meadows

Ryan Hurtig has been in the photographic industry for 20 years. He started at Robert Waxman Photo and Video in downtown Denver in 1995 and witnessed the shift from film to digital in that period. He has been with Mike’s Camera since 2012 and teaches the Nikon DSLR class and the Micro 4:3 class in Park Meadows. He enjoys using his cameras on hikes in national parks, beaches and downtown urban environments. A native Coloradoan, he lives in Denver with his wife Rachael and their retired racing Greyhound Reggie.

Shelia Mitchell - Boulder

An ultra-creative, Shelia really enjoys teaching photography and she has a great understanding of how people learn and her curriculum reflects this. With a degree in psychology she is patient and driven to help people learn the concepts she instructs on. She’s studied at the Art Institute of Kansas City and is currently studying graphic design at Red Rocks College.

Shelly Au - Park Meadows

Shelly Au worked for an overseas nonprofit Organization for 22 years. He spent 17 of those years living in various parts of Asia. His experience and ability to make subjects comfortable has allowed him to capture powerful images among people who are ordinarily suspicious of being photographed.

In 2013, he received his Master of Professional Studies in Digital Photography degree at the School of Visual Arts in New York, under Photoshop Hall of Fame Katrin Eismann. He was given the Paula Rhodes Honors Award and that same year was one of three finalists for the Adobe Design Achievement Awards in the Photography Category amongst thousands of students all over the world. Steve Reczkowski - Pleasant Hill

From the classic Kodak Disc to the giant Polaroid 20x24, and early digital compacts to Phase One backs, Steve's shot it all. He relocated to Northern California to study photography at the San Francisco Art Institute under some of the west coast's masters of the medium. Afterwards, he donned many hats spanning a 20-year career in the photo industry as a photo editor, gallery director, staff photographer, first assistant, digital retoucher, artist, and consultant. Susan Helgeson - Dublin

Susan loves sharing her passion for photography. An award-winning photojournalist, she worked for 11 years in the newspaper business at the Alameda Newspaper Group and later Lesher Newspapers. Her experience shooting a wide variety of assignments from news to sports to features informs her diverse photographic knowledge.

Her background also spans both film and digital photography, as well as, lighting and portraiture. Presently Susan enjoys travel, landscape and macro photography especially of our local East Bay Regional Parks and Northern California.

Her goal is to help others develop their camera and photo skills to create their own great images!

Tara Swan-Menlo Park

Tara is a film photographer based in the San Francisco Bay Area. As a graduate from De Anza College, she earned Associate of the Arts degrees in Liberal Arts and Portrait Photography. Starting out as a digital photographer since high school, she decided to take a film photography class as an extracurricular to earn her degrees. But after taking the film class, she decided she didn't want to do anything else. Today, almost all of her art is shot with film no matter if it is for personal expression or professionally done and hired sessions. To her, film allows her to slow down and focus on the most important details in front of her. From finding the perfect lighting and angle, to connecting more with her subjects. Tara's objective and focus for each session is to capture each shot near perfectly within the camera instead of needing extensive post processing afterwards. Alongside being a photographer in her own time, she also teaches others about film and how to work with it. Whether it be a group shoot, a small one on one, or even talking in front of classes. Tara enjoys sharing her experiences with film and giving her knowledge about the unique art medium itself.

Terry Darnall - Denver

Terry has worked in the photography industry since 1990. He worked in film services to start and then moved into camera sales. He has also worked as a product photographer for an Ebay store. He likes to do existing light photography and event photography.

Tom Davis - Park Meadows

Tom Davis has worked in the photographic industry since 2007. He’s got valuable experience working primarily in black and white fine art photography. As an avid hiker his passion lies in nature and landscape photography. He works in sales and teaches classes at Mike’s Camera Park Meadows. Currently he shoots professionally mostly doing portraits, weddings, and events. He received his Certified Photographic Consultant status through Mike’s Camera in 2013.

Vijay Varma - Menlo Park

Vijay has been working as a photographer for the last 40 years. He came to the United States from India in 2003 and joined Ritz Camera. He worked with them for 10 years and then joined Mike’s Camera in 2012. He enjoys event photography and nature photography. Photoshop and Video Editing are post production passions. Anytime he can shoot outdoors, adds to his excitement.
