Doors Open Denver 2015

Join Mike’s Camera and Olympus for educational seminars and photo walking tours of downtown Denver during Doors Open Denver 2015. The crew from Mike’s Camera along with Technical Representatives from Olympus will guide you through a scenic tour capturing some of Downtown Denver’s remarkable sites and architecture using your own gear or free loaner gear provided by Mike’s Camera and Olympus and Tamron.

 

Doors Open Denver is an annual celebration of Denver’s built environment and design. This two-day event invites you to tour and appreciate the spectacular, the new, and the historic buildings you see every day but may have never entered.

 

Participants may experience Doors Open Denver through self-guided (free) tours or insider (paid) tours led by architects and historians.

 

The theme of Doors Open Denver 2015 is Denver Classics: Then & Now

 

FREE Camera and Lens Test Drive Events from Olympus and Tamron 

ou’ll have the opportunity to borrow and test drive the some of the new Olympus cameras and lenses including the Olympus E-M10 14-42mm lens, Olympus
E-M10 14-42mm lens, Olympus E-M5 Mark II, Olympus E-M1 BLACK WITH 12-40 pro lens and Olympus STYLUS 1, and a variety of innovative and quality Tamron Lenses

All photo walking tours will begin at the Denver Post building located at 101 West Colfax Avenue, Denver, CO 80202, At the intersection of Broadway and 15th Street, across from the State Capitol.

 

You’ll take part in a brief presentation on photographic principles and gain helpful tips for capturing better photos along your walking tour. You’ll also have the opportunity to borrow one of Olympus’ new lineup of revolutionary Mirrorless Cameras and try out different lenses from Tamron.

 

FREE Architectural Photography Seminars, followed by Walking Tours Through Downtown

Our short seminars preceding each walking tour will cover some fundamentals and tips for capturing better architectural, landscape and street photography.

This session will focus on capturing the “magic light” at dusk, and using slower shutter speeds to capture movement and ambient light. Tripods and shutter releases are recommended.

30 min Architectural & Night Photography Seminar

90 min Walking Tour with stops as follows:

This is your opportunity to find and photograph your favorite areas of Denver or Denver Classics, and post your images to a public site, have them reviewed by a panel of judges and get the opportunity to win fantastic prizes! The entry deadline is Friday, May 15th, allowing you to take photos during Doors Open Denver weekend
April 25-26.

 

Entry Rules

  • Photos are not limited to Doors Open Denver sites but must be of sites within the City of Denver.
  • Photos are limited to one image upload per category.
  • Upload your images at Doors Open Denver Website
  • Entrants must be 18 or older.

All entrants agree that their names and images may be displayed and used in the Doors Open Denver Photography Competition for marketing and promotional purposes and/or for display in Mike’s Camera store(s) without charge or copyright infringement, and that the images they upload are acceptable for public view. Winners must provide full resolution image files of winning images to be used for printing of the prize photograph and/or for display and promotional purposes by Mike’s Camera, Inc.
